Unoccupied House Insurance

We have a second home in Spain and like to spend the 90 days we are allowed twice a year there.
Our buildings insurance for our home in the UK does not allow us to spend more than 60 days per annum away from the UK.
Does anyone have a similar problem and if so could you let me know who you use to insure your home in the UK. 60 days per year hardly makes the second home worthwhile.

Homeprotect under written by AXA.

You could try UK Insurance Net.

Home Protect will insure unoccupied property for up to 180 days, but you have to stipulate the amount of days I just say the longest you are allowed.

If the property is unoccupied in between 1st Oct to 1st April for any length of time there are rules for heating to be on etc.

Found the customer service to be very helpful with questions etc. I looked at many others and used another company for a few years but found Home Protect offer a good product, but they (like others) really are hot on BS locks and alarms.

could you make your UK home available on AirBnB during your 90 day stretches? There are agencies who you can outsource all the cleaning and admin to, and of course you'd need a system for locking away personal items, but many of the whole-property airbnb places I have stayed in are clearly someone's main home so it's not unusual. You may not make much profit but isn't it better to keep the property in-use than find a specialist insurance product covering the additional risks of a property that's unused for such long stretches?
