Car insurance quote high increase this year

Have car insurance prices gone up significantly in the last year?
I had a quote which is significantly higher than last year's premium.
I did a quick comparison online and my existing insurer is still the cheapest for like for like.
No change in vehicle, no accidents, no claims, everything the same. If anything, car 1 year older and 1 extra year added to my No Claim Bonus.
I am very surprised and annoyed at the same time.
Am I missing something?

Yep same here- up 20% - couldn’t get a cheaper comparison quote

That's annoying! So sadly a real trend.

It's almost like the alleged incoming reduction in premiums when the small claims limit changed was total bollocks!

Mine went up too but i think the increase in second hand car values is also to blame. I'd need to check but i think the market value of my car has increased in the last 12 months.

Actually that might be one of the factors. The value of my car is a lot higher than I expected - I checked not long ago as I'm looking to trade it in as part exchange for a different car or maybe sell it privately when getting another car.
Still annoying though!
It is what it is, I guess 😔

I'm with Aviva and just had my renewal quote through and it's only £1 more than last year. I drive a boring low value car and don't do many miles.
