Need help with credit card mystery

Between Christmas and New year I applied for a Tesco credit card to do a 0% balance transfer. All accepted but was told on the website I couldn't set up my online management account until the card arrived. All fine.

Except the card hasn't materialised. I can't find any emails confirming the order or with a reference number so I don't know how to chase it up. I'd think I'd imagined the whole thing except it definitely shows that the credit search was done on my credit report.

I remember applying because either a comparison website, clearscore or experian (can't remember which) emailed me to say "check your eligibility for pre approved balance transfer cards". But I can't find anywhere on said accounts where it shows a record of cards applied for.

I'm not quite sure what to do but I'm panicking it's gone to the wrong address and someone else now has said credit card and pin number. I'd have no way of knowing what they were spending if that is what's happened. Its also quite annoying that I have yet another month of paying a ridiculous amount of interest on the card I was going to switch the balance from.

Has anyone had anything similar or does anyone have any ideas about what to do?

Assuming they have a number you can call, it's probably best to phone them. That's usually easiest - they might be able to find you on their system. I assume that your credit search is showing as an actual application and not a soft search for comparison purposes?

Not so long ago I applied for a credit card (not Tesco) that didn't turn up and I only found out about it when I looked on our local FB page a couple of weeks ago and saw that someone who lived at the other end of our street had put a photo of the letter containing the card on asking if anyone knew who I was as it had been sent to her address, because it had her house number on. I can only assume that I'd accidentally input the wrong number when picking from the scrolly list or something.

But it was surprising that they'd been able to process the application as obviously it wouldn't have matched the credit reference information as I'd apparently told them I lived somewhere else Confused
