I've read through some reviews on moneysupermarket but got a bit boggled and have come to the safety of MN for advice.

Which accounts do you have for your DCs and are they any good? Which ones should I avoid?

Nationwide have consistently good, no-frills accounts. They don't do that irritating thing of having a headline-grabbing rate and then, once they've sucked enough money in, lowering the rate to the point of invisibility.

If you're prepared to account-hop and move your money every few months then you can probably get an extra percentage point or two. But if you just want a nice safe account to put the kids birthday money in, then nationwide's Smart 2 Save (or whatever they call it) is a good bet.

That's good, I was considering NW (I had my account with them when I was small), keep 'em coming!

See I don't have a problem with the 'can only save up to £1200 a year' part, I worry more about the 'have to save at least £10 a month' bits

Another vote for the Halifax account - I think the 10% pa is the higest in the market and the save4it rate is good too

I opened 2 save4it accounts today (but got them renamed for the reason lapin mentions!), we're going to go and collect our free piggy banks next week
