Carers allowance still being paid

I started working in August and called up the DWP and told them I didn't need to be paid the CA any more. Well, I need it but not eligible any longer. However I just looked at my account and they have been paying it still, since then.
I didn't notice as thought it was my disability living allowance.
I had spoken to an actual human being when I called up.
What happens now? I can't afford to pay it all back?

Are you no longer caring 35 hrs a week then or did your cared for die? If the latter, you still get it for 6 weeks and it should stop. Otherwise, just put it all to one side and contact them again. Make a record of who you speak to. They'll probably adjust your DLA for repayment, you won't be expected to pay it all back immediately.

The threshold is £132 a week.

If you go online you can do amendments on there. Try that.

I had to ring them twice to ask them to stop paying it. I put the money to one side but nobody has ever asked for it back!

Same thing happened to me! I started working in September 22 and told them straight away. Realized 4 weeks later they were still paying and it took another 2 calls to finally get them to stop middle of December. Apparently they hadn't actioned my request (but had a note of it) so said they wouldn't claim it back as it was their error. Not sure if that's true but haven't heard anything since. I put the amount aside though so waiting for that letter to come!

Oh I hope that's true for me too. I haven't heard of government bodies being so nice but I will be hopeful.
