I am quite new to MN but I have noticed that there are some very unforgiving attitudes towards people in debt. We got into serious debt 4 years ago and at one point our non-mortgage debt was almost the same as our joint gross take home pay! we have worked hard for the last 4 years and we have reduced 60% of the debt.
Has anyone else had to deal with very high debts? I am not asking people to disclose the amount as I know it's all relative to income etc. We were scared when we realised that we owed a years worth of gross salary!
Being in significant debt can be a lonely place, however I often wonder if there are more people than we realise like us, dealing with big debts.
