Scottish child payment - tax credits

This year with Child Tax Credit when I put my earnings in the yearly renewal I was told I had been paid too much so I'm currently paying back a overpayment. I was given a award but they have used it as part of the overpayment, my yearly award was £200/£300ish.

Can I apply for the Scottish child payment even tho I don't currently receive anything due to the overpayment? I'm going to give them a phone at some point, just don't want to go ahead and apply if it puts me further into what I owe child tax credits come next renewal date.

If you are technically still entitled to child tax credits I would make a claim for the Scottish Child Payment, I put my claim in on Monday, willbe interested to know if I am entitled!

I've applied for it, couldn't get through on the phone to ask so thought I'll just apply and see what the result is.

Just slightly worried incase I can claim then be told I owe back again when I renew child tax credits next year.
