Some nasty piece of work rang the other night behaving like a debt collector ranting and raving at dss Dss went over drawn by 40 quid after christmas and went in and sorted it with the local branch manager but then it turns out that he didn't sort it and now he has been hit with a load of charges! I think I might go in with him tommorow to see what they have to say. Any advice?

Who didn't sort it, your dss or the bank Manager? Banks will sometimes refund the charges if you make a fuss. have a look at

There is lots of info on there about your rights with these charges.

Sorry I meant to add that he didn't actually have an overdraft facility so the charges were fair enough but when he went in to sort it out the woman told him that they would be waived because it was his first time and then when it became apparant that they hadn't been the branch manager told him that it was his fault for not checking up on them that they had waived it

That doesn't sound right to me! If they said they were going to waive the charges, they should have been waived. You can't backtrack and say, you didn't check, so sorry. Go in and see the manager, and demand the charges are waived, as the woman said they would be.

Appalling. You'll be able to get them make in most instances but you might have a lot of letter writing to do.
