Company threading legal action - please help

Hi, this is driving me crazy and stressing me out even though I know I have done nothing wrong.

I ordered some stuff online. They didn't arrive.
After 5 weeks and after chasing the company I requested a chargeback via my bank.

The company then emailed me to say they will be taking legal action as I've requested a chargeback for goods that have been received and that they have evidence of delivery (signature and gps) this is false. The goods had not been delivered.

The next day, the goods then did arrive. (Still didn't give a signature fwiw)

I immediately emailed the company to confirm, and emailed my bank to cancel the charge back (I had still not been credited the chargeback)

They are still threatening legal action and saying they will be taking me to county court to recover the costs.

What?!

What costs are they trying to recover? Was it very expensive?

drivingmeroundthetwistt · 07/10/2022 15:50

It was less than £100

They said they induced £20 fees. As I wasn't credited yet for the chargeback anyway I assume they haven't lost that money?

Did you accept the goods once they were delivered?

drivingmeroundthetwistt · 07/10/2022 16:05

Yes.

Goods were delivered 6 days after I requested the chargeback.

Goods arrived. I cancelled chargeback

Taking you to County Court essentially for £20? I don't think so - sounds like an empty threat to me

NoSquirrels · 07/10/2022 16:09

Just ignore it. And don’t order from them again and tell everyone you know not to.

Honestly, don’t worry about it. Even if they could be arsed to ‘take legal action’ they’d be total time wasters.

I think they sound quite ridiculous then
they won’t take you to court for such a tiny sum of money

BertaHoon · 07/10/2022 16:15

Ignore them. Nobody is going to pay the costs of legal action over £20. Do not engage further.

Block them.

What company is this? Is it a small business with an unhinged owner?
