Judicial review of district council

Our residents association and the local trading association is taking the district council to judicial review. For various planning irregularities and financial mismanagement. Basically the the poorest areas of several towns in the area are being asset-stripped because of a massive financial shortfall and because the govt is preventing them putting up council tax enough to cover it. We have been treated abominally and no-one in the council listens to a word we say. The amount of work local people have done collecting signatures on petitions, making submissions, writing letters... and nothing makes the slightest difference. We've consulted a solictor who specialises in this are and he tells us we have a good case. One of the traders is able to get Legal Aid. What is this going to involve? Anyone have any experience of this.
