Not sure if this is in the right section.
I have a sofa from DFS just over 5 years old. Leather
The stitching has split right along the seam (not pierced or ripped, just split seam where it’s been sat on a lot).
I know I can obviously just buy a new one but money is very tight and it was expensive (over 2500).
Can I claim on contents insurance for this?

No, it would be considered wear and tear.

Your only reproach is back to DFS not fit for purpose.

It would be classed as wear and tear. Put a throw over it. We’ve a cigarette burn and a split seam on ours but what the eye doesn’t see the heart doesn’t grieve over !

After five years?

Surely a sofa isn’t guaranteed for that long?
