Just applied for the new John Lewis Card

Apologies if I'm being thick but please advise. So my old JL credit card has a credit limit of £4500. Just applied for my new card and my balance is now £2400! But I owe £3800 on my old card! I can only transfer 90% of my balance over to new card. How do I pay off the remaining £1800 on the old card? I called JL and he was lovely but said that's my new balance and he's doesn't know who can help me.

Is the old card still 'live' with outstanding balance showing?

It’s a different card company so keep paying the old account for the balance that didn’t transfer.

No worries!! Just spoke to someone at the old Partnership card and she basically said the new card provider is not familiar with the old card procedures. The old card stops on the 31st of October but it still remains open and I can pay it off as usual! Oh the relief!
