was wondering if i should increase my mortage and move house but worked out it would mean me only having 300 cash spare afterbills and expenses (including food travel, and personal products) is this a desperate situtaion? i feel that this is enough for occasional shopping and nights out and it will be this way until i get a certain qualification at work that will entitle me to an additional 300 per month (12-18 months time). also i contribute about 300 in childcare costs which won't be forever but at least another 3 years. this new house would be much more suitable for a growing family and ticks all boxes really alhough will require some renovation but DH is great at DIY so shouln't have to shell out for that and have put money aside to get us started wih essentials.

what do you think? Am i just trying to convince myself when you all see this is a dire situation or is this a normal amount for a working mum in London on middle income. BTW DH earns less so would be in a similar situation except he can do overtime in his job when short of cash.
