Housing benefit form

I've been randomly sent an application form to apply for housing benefit even though I have been claiming for years! The letter stated I had been randomly selected to check I am still eligible. I called up the housing benefit office and they said it's been randomly requested by the DWP. It's made me feel like I'm being checked up on and I feel uneasy about it. Anyone else been asked to do this ??

I had one of these a few weeks ago, it was just to check I was claiming the correct amount. They sent me a load of paperwork a few days ago just to conform the amount I was being paid and why, they also owed me money from a underpayment due to a rent increase.

i want to ask for advice i recenlt moved into hostel( supported accomodaation by end of june like 27th and i have been here now for like 8 weeks is it likely i will get housing benefit review done or is it usuallay done after you been clajming 6 months

I don't buy that these full case reviews are "random" that's the same bull that our council has told us, we have today just received the letter to fill out our 5th full case review in the last 2 and a half years. Yes that's one full case review randomly assigned exactly every 6 months for the last 2 and a half years. There is no chance in hell that these are randomly assigned.

Well, the way randomisation works ... I've been receiving Housing Benefit since 2009 and haven't had one of these yet! Statistically, then, you could say you've had some of mine.

Cheer up, I've never won the lottery so you might get my wins, too 😄

hi nobody told.me anyhting my first payment was relased to my landlord only 20 days ago as i am new claimant hb i was just wondering wipp they do review on new claimant who had their first benefir paid or will it normallt happnlen after you been claiming for 5.montjhs

If your circumstances don't change, they probably won't review it.

Here's the government information. If you have worries about your benefit, call your council on the number they put on their letter to you. They will answer your questions.

If you've got a support worker, they should have up-to-date information. But they might not always be right, so you can always check with the council as well.

Don't listen to friends or self-appointed experts! Some people just like to make others feels scared for no reason.

Unfortunately it seems that the council s are so inefficient that they send out a large number of inaccurate payments of benefit and then demand to have it repaid. They also seem to expect people to understand the figures they use for their calculations. I doubt many people do. As far as the impression that some people are singled out I think they may well be. I was 'investigated' in March for an overpayment which was their mistake. I was exonerated but now they have opened a new investigation for a new overpayment this year. If everybody went to the council office the day they got their council tax demand and asked them to check that it was right it would certainly slow things down. As it is they are allowed to continue to mismanage the system. Maybe if the person allowing the erroneous demands and payments to go out was fined the situation would improve!
