How to claim child benefit?

I have a Ukrainian mum and one child just come to live with me and am trying to help them claim child benefit. It seems you can't claim online and have to print and post the forms. They also ask for original documents to be posted, so passport and birth certificate . My guest is very reluctant to send these in the post. Is there any alternative to this? Can she take her documents somewhere to be seen? I don't really know about how the benefits system works as I'm lucky enough to never have had to claim.

If that's what they ask for then that's what needs to be provided. It would be the same for a passport application.

There is noway around it I am afraid.
Send them by recorded delivery I know that's no peace of mind in getting them back but if they want the CB they have to prove they have the right to claim it.

The mum can also claim universal credit too if she meets the eligibility.
