We went overdrawn a couple of days ago - completely my fault - I glanced and saw the loan payment had come out, that we had enough money in there still etc... only to discover that it was the standing order into the savings account with the same people Loan came out, we went overdrawn, they charged us.

Completely at fault - us. No disputing.

Thursday - I took out £30 in the afternoon.

I came home Thursday evening and transferred £30 in from joint account (is DH's account the money came out of), the money clears instantly like that.

BUT because it was the EVENING, the bastards have taken £30 for being overdrawn by two f*cking hours.

DH needs to phone and kick off, they will probably tell him to sod off anyway.

I admit that the first one was completely our fault, but the second one is just downright petty. In an age of internet banking, why does it still count as being next day if you transfer the money after x time (I don't even know if it needs to be before 5pm or 6pm)????

All because I took the wrong bank card out of the house with me

I usually manage to get the money back if I ring and explain, it happened recently with a card i dont use - long story! Some banks are reasonable. Put on the charm and give it a try!

Yes be very reasonable and apologetic - you'll get it back.
