Anyone know what happens when your electricity meter is broken

Had smart meter, last meter reading sent automatically was Dec 2020, I didn’t notice for several months it wasn’t working and has then taken me months and 5 booked appointments to get electric company to sort. It’s now mended but the reading is only just above the reading from Dec 2020 so it’s not been recording since then, reading approx 3300. Company has been estimating and estimated reading had gone up to approx 6300, then in March I have a random reading on history of all zeros as being by a meter reader. The engineer said he wasn’t too sure but what he imagines will happen is that I’ll be charged the estimated up to point it was fixed and then they go from reading taken yesterday going forwards. Im really worried they are going to charge me from the zero up to 3300 for two months electric. Also what happens for the 6600 then going to 0000, will they see this as the display going round the clock even though it’s digital and charge me for about 3400 of units for a month?

ive had such a nightmare getting to this point to get it fixed, hours on the phone to electricity company and two complaints in I’m just dreading that this now isn’t going to go smoothly.

the fixed smart meter hasn’t yet sent a reading to electricity company and I’m not sure whether to enter as a manual reading to try and get matter resolved or just leave it

What happened with this?

When they eventually fixed it they switched it on and it went back to a number that wasn’t much further on from the last reading about 18 months previously which I guess was when it stopped working. I thought they’d estimate the electricity used in the period but they ended up just taking the reading as it was and it for about 18 months free electricity as a result snd a big credit on account

Was this OVO/boost by any chance?
I ended up leaving them. My meter didn't work for 3months, reported it lots of times. Said we could smell burning but nothing was done until the power went off on new years day. Engineer came and put in a new meter. Still no usage showing on app so I call them and they say xx team has to register new meter blah blah. Still not sorted by march so I leave them and get a fix with co op/octopus. I didn't pay any electric for 6months and they didn't seem to care. Its caused issues with new supplier as my 1st meter reading was way different from theirs so that period is still in dispute. I've still got estimated usage bills and some actual meter readings. Nightmare, considering switching again in April to see what happens...

Eon have appalling service.
we have an old style meter which failed last week and we were given a date of 23rd MARCH before they would come out .
crucial for us as we are all electric with nightstore heating so we had no heating or hot water and they were fine with that!.
eventually, after a lot of hassle and phone calls, they should come out tomorrow, well over a week later.
