Claiming private pension after death - zurich

Has anyone had any experience specifically with Zurich in claiming someone's pension as a lump sum after their death?

My dad died at 62 and his private pension had a lump sum if he died before 75. My dad didn't remarry or have a partner and I'm his only child. I have sent off all the paper work to Zurich and they have returned the death certificate early last week but I have heard nothing since.

I'm just wondering how long these things likely take to payout; my dad didn't leave much in his bank and I want to start sorting his house out as soon as I can. My dad didn't let me in his house the past 6 years and came to me instead, it appears in these 6 years something has gone on with him as he had started hoarding bottles, empty wine boxes and there has been an infestation so it looks like I need to get professionals in to save what I can of his possessions but we have only recently bought our house and are currently skint so the money would really help.

was there a Will or are you the Administrator? You need to contact Zurich and ask what happens now and the likely timescale. They might want you to prove your identity and that you have authority to cash this pension in. These things always take longer than you’d think!

Sorry for your loss. My DH died and some pensions came quickly but all at least a couple of months.

I would give them a ring, maybe they could send an advance to you. Sorry for your loss.
