Hey everyone
My first child was born 26th sept 07 and when she was 3wks old i submitted my claim for tax credits and child benefit. I am now still waiting on my tax credits.

I have rang loads of times and they have never contacted me once to let me know whats going on with my claim, when i ring they just say they cant see any reason why its taking so long. I rang on wed with my local mla and was told my claim is being dealt with by the special investiagtions team.

does anyone no what this means and what it entails?? I dont understand what could be the problem. I have made a complaint and still no one has got back to me.

The only possible reason i could see for this is that I recently moved home and have yet to change my address on a few document..
please please help

You should ask to speak to a line manager. Is it possible for you to visit your local tax office.
What documents have you not change the address on ?
Have you made any other claims from your previous address ?

I havent changed my address on the electoral roll and rates...this is my 1st time claiming any benefits. I have asked over and over again to speak to someone but apparently there is no direct contact with the team that deals with these cases.. im in limbo. was just wanting to know what the procedure was and where i stand..

Have a look on the tax credits web site there should be an address you can write and make a complaint to,send it recorded delivery and make sure you keep a copy.

Can you get to your local tax office ?

are you on mat leave or unemployed? try your lone parent adviser at local job centre is it's the latter. there are lotsof little pushes they can use to get this cleared up.

if not, contact your MP - why should you have your claim delayed because of other peoples fraudulent activity?

PersephoneSnape · 11/01/2008 15:44

sorry - i now actually read your post! Mps have a special hotline they can use - I'd contact them.
