Identify theft and multiple credit applications in my name

Hi since July 2021 I've had several credit cards opened fraudulently using my identity. I managed to close them down and there was no impact on my credit score and I had flags out on my credit files to alert lenders to the fact I've been a victim of identity theft and to be extra careful. I now have a "credit karma" account where on a daily basis I can see credit searches being done on me. In the last month I have had 30 soft searches done. Is there anything I can do to stop this as it's becoming a real pain to keep having to call all these banks and stop the applications

Credit karma also searches you once a week to pull your report - a soft search still but it does show on the list. If you've looked at any price comparison sites for insurance, utilities or anything that also will show soft searches as the run identification checks before you get the quotes. There isn't much you can do regarding soft searches I believe as they are not classed as applications. I'd recommend Equifax or Experian to monitor your score and they can put block on your details so a password has to be given to the lender first however they can best explain how it works to you.

Anyone searching soft or hard needs your permission. Ask the companies who have searched to show you what permissions you have given them.
