I got charged £300 by my solicitor (which will probably include their fees) for the initial petition. It's probably around £175 odd quid I would reckon, going on the cost of a C1 (application for order under Children Act)

Petition fee for the court is £300. You may be exempt if you are on benefits or have a low income.

yup, that's the one

www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk

Form EX50 explains fees - £300 fee for county court

Form D183 and D184 explain about divorce, although it's always recommended to use a solicitor rather than DIY

Form EX160 and EX160A are the forms you will need to fill in for exemption from fees.
