I want to get a new credit card which has better cashback and it says to open it I have to have 'excellent credit record' which includes always paying on time (check), having had a credit card for a while (check) and having £5,000 of credit

I have £4900 credit limit on current card

obv it must be some kind of cut-off that means more to credit card companies than to me? If I call my present credit card company will they bump it by £100, or will the new company not care too much about being short by only £100 of credit?

anyone know?

it prob doesn't mean anything in particular

i used to work for a Well Known Card Firm and the computer system would often bump a 'good' customer's limit up by x% to encourage spending

Tutter · 04/01/2008 15:34

they will prob give you whatever limit you want tbh

within reason, and depending on salary etc

ps disclaimer: tutter does not recommend the use of creit cards for extended borrowing

ta tutter

I don't borrow from it ever

dh uses it for work expenses and we pocket the cashback
