Anyone else had their final bill from Orbit Energy ?

Just wondering if anyone else has had their final bill ? I logged into the account to see if I could see my old tariff and my final bill was there at 3x what I would normally pay for the month !

Are the figures right or is it estimated? Is it the usual tariff?

Paddybare · 26/01/2022 20:53

I haven’t but we’ve been moved to Scottish power who have told us that the final bill for Orbit will ‘come from their administrators in the next few months.’

pumpkinpie01 · 26/01/2022 21:04

I have been moved to Scottish power too. This is really strange I have all my bills and all my meter readings and it appears that from the 24/10 to 30/11 (when Scottish power took over ) my electric meter was whizzing round at more than double what it normally is . Then working out from 1/12 to today's date it's gone back to normal -makes no sense at all !

@Paddybare we got the final bill a few hours ago by e mail you might have yours now too

@Theunamedcat all with actual readings . The week before Orbit went out of business my meter was using 36kw a day instead of our average of 11-13 ! This is so weird !

Yes just had minds through!

pumpkinpie01 · 26/01/2022 22:05

@Paddybare you had time to look at it yet?mine is very weird . All of a sudden 5-6 weeks before they go out of business my usage more than doubled when we have not done anything different , it's looking really dodgy tbh

We have, we were in credit and it shows the credit so looks accurate. Still haven't been able to pay Scottish Power for January, I keep receiving texts to set up a direct debit but can't get through.

We moved from Scottish Power to Orbit so not that keen to be back again although not sure what the other options are.

pumpkinpie01 · 26/01/2022 22:15

Yours sounds ok then , just did some more workings out , in the week before they went bust our usage was 36kw a day instead of the average of 11-13. The day Scottish power took over it's gone back down !

pumpkinpie01 · 26/01/2022 22:16

@WhereIsMyGlasses I called them today and got through straight away . Have you tried logging into your account now ?

WhereIsMyGlasses · 26/01/2022 22:43

I haven't, I'm not sure what my log in details would be, they haven't sent that yet

But your energy company have nothing to do with your supply or meter, they just charge you based on the numbers given to them.

The meter is the responsibility of the local supply networks.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 27/01/2022 06:12

DC1 had it a couple of weeks ago - neither their sibling, DH or I got it. DC1 was also able to come out of isolation early with 2 negative LFTs on days 5 and 6.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 27/01/2022 06:13

Sorry wrong thread!

pumpkinpie01 · 27/01/2022 06:46

@BarbaraofSeville yes I know that but in the whole 22 years i have lived in this house we have never had usage that high . We haven't done anything different - no new appliances , nothing . Then the day Scottish power take over it goes back down to normal usage. Its very odd

@WhereIsMyGlasses - do you mind me asking if you were able to set up a direct debit at your previous monthly level?

Or has it increased?

I'm also with Scottish power & have stayed off contract as it was such an increase for me.

WhereIsMyGlasses · 27/01/2022 10:09

@LargeProsecco I've not managed to get to that stage as yet although I'm getting daily texts with links to my account that don't work. I'll maybe email them so see if someone can call me back.

When we were with Scottish Power previously I used to submit meter readings each month and pay whatever it was online. It used to be extortionate. We had storage heaters years ago then changed to a normal wet system central heating ran off an electric boiler (rather than a gas boiler as we're all electric, gas wasn't put in the area until a while after) but Scottish Power refused to move us from the day and night meter for white meter heating that we no longer had. They did actually change the meter once, then changed it back saying it was too cheap! I really just want to pay what's owed and move on, just not sure where to as yet.

LargeProsecco · 27/01/2022 10:42

@WhereIsMyGlasses - our circumstances are very similar - I moved in to a flat with a wet electric heating system, and Scottish power wanted me to set up a DD for £225/m based on the previous occupants usage.

I refused that as the boiler broke down & I replaced it with gas just after the energy crisis started.

So I was just paying month to month on a card payment based on meter readings - with constant texts/emails/calls to set up a DD.

When I tried to set up a DD they quoted £396 a month. Even though my usage is only £150ish.

I'll have a look at their website & see what tariff's they can suggest now - but not holding out much hope.

WhereIsMyGlasses · 27/01/2022 22:12

@largeprosecco I hope you get it sorted. I think we'll move somewhere else, just researching the options at the moment.

I’ve had the same issue. I’ve been on the phone and emailing them this last week. I’ve been checking all my bills for the last 18 months and nothing tally’s up. I’m going to get it checked by someone else too. I’ve asked for itemised bills for a few months that are missing and they are saying that they can’t provide me with them. It’s all very odd and doesn’t seem right. Would be good to know if anyone else is having this problem. I’m not paying it until I get the information I’ve requested. Just not right!!!

Hello. Popping in to let you know that we're doing a Q&A with fuel poverty charity National Energy Action about these energy price hikes on Wednesday 23rd Feb at 12 noon. The thread is now open for questions here.
