Savings account confusion

I'm getting overtime payment of around £1200 next month and would like to open a savings account. I want to also be able to save £100 a month into the same account but there are so many and it's too confusing. I don't mind if I can't take the money out for 1-2 years. Can anyone advise please.

As usual with these questions, Money Saving Expert gives good guidance and points to the best rates out there at the moment:

Problem is, most cash savings accounts have crap interest rates at the moment. As our cash isas have matured, we have moved them into Stocks and Shares Isas with Vanguard. So far it has been a good decision and they have grown by much more than if we had put them into cash isas. You can also withdraw when you like, wish we had found them years ago.
