Any non-business Amazon sellers?

i have a ridiculous amount of books and need to declutter. Many are hard backs and read once (I am a member of 2 bookclubs where they have a devotion to new releases) so almost all are in great condition.

I'd be thrilled with any money for them so wondered about selling them via amazon. I was reading the seller info page but it seems to begeared towards business selelrs talking about VAT and all that.

i'd probably go for fulfilled by amazon so i don't have the faff of going to the post office (which is a fair car ride away).

I'd be really grateful for any hints, tiops, insights if anyone has anything to share. Am i right in thinking that if I am literally just selling my unwanted stuff I do not need to be VAT registered?

Many thanks in advance!

I sold a few books via Amazon. Art books that were likely to get a few pounds because they were v expensive new or out of print.

Have a look for your titles to get an idea of what they'll go for (btw for most books hardback isn't a selling point - you won't get more for hb than pb and possibly less desirable since bulkier unless rare or in demand as a gift).

The process was very easy and certainly no trouble with vat or anything. I only made about £50.

Maybe one of those sites such as Ziffit or Music Magpie would better for a lot of items though.

You get a certain number of listings for free on your Amazon selle account I think it may be 40. You would be a sole trader and would be expected to sort out your own taxes end of year declaring the income however itay not be much depends what you've got. You need to assess how much the books are worth. Ideally the same book is also listed on Amazon and you can join that listing under 'sell on amazon' you can also work out howuch you would make. Look for a free fba fees extension online or download the Amazon seller app and scan the barcode on your books.

The vat registered won't apply to you which is a good thing you make more than those who are registered.
