Tax free childcare account question

I’m not sure if this is a silly question but I can’t find an exact answer online..
When adding money to our account, can it be any amount, or does it have to be the exact amount each month that it will cost us, less the 20% the government contributes spead over 3 months?
Can we just add X amount and if there’s some left after the fees have been taken out it will just roll over to the next month? I’m not sure how much our bill will be each month as I am staff there and it varies slightly what I work each month so I don’t have an exact figure!
Hope that makes sense..😄

It can be any amount! I usually pay in a couple of months in one go (I am self employed so my income is erratic)

Yeah I put in more than I pay and top it up the next month depending when my extra income comes in

Any amount and actually depending how close to the quarterly limit you are or how variable your income it can be worth putting more in than you need.
