How much for DC uni?

Eldest DC is off to uni next year. I know contributions and individual financial situations are all different but how much are you spending on supporting your dc through uni and / or saving with them not living at home? Interested to hear how others are managing and approaching it.

This is a very useful thread for me as dd is due to start university next September.
I think she will get around £6000 maintenance loan which will only just cover accommodation costs so I’m getting a bit nervy how much I will need to give her each month.
On a plus side, she barely eats (always been like that) and isn’t one to go out clubbing or drinking.

@MrsLargeEmbodied As I understand it their thinking is that the loan covers the breaks in between each year but in the third year the course is finished so they don’t need as much money. I agree the third year is very full on, a lot of the practical elements of his course which he should have completed last year he is cramming in this year due to the second year being mostly online.
