Childcare Portion of Universal Credit

GeorgesMummy1 · 25/10/2021 11:42

Hi,

Can someone please help? Universal credit have not paid the last three months of my Childcare costs at all. I have spoken to them numerous times, made sure I completed and sent in the invoices and bank statements as requested. I have been onto my journal basically saying I will have to give up work if this is not resolved. Has anyone else been in this situation? Sorry if this does not make sense, I am just so scared and worried about what will happen.

TIA

This has happened to me too. I went to my mp and got the money back.

Did you report each childcare period within the assessment period or in the next one?

Any later than that then they aren’t allowed.

MrsHookey · 25/10/2021 17:48

Email your MP. After that, I got my money coming through very quickly. You can find your mp on writetothem.com

I've had to call each month to make sure that they do the calculation as journal messages weren't getting answered.
I had a problem last month as nursery changed their invoice format.(same details just a different logo)
As long as childcare is ofsted registered and the amount you have paid matches what is on the invoice/bank statements then they should be paying.
Kick up a fuss

MrsHookey · 29/10/2021 10:17

Also someone in staff told me to select the option to contact my "work coach" even though I work as notifications are not always received using the other messaging options.

I agree with the previous poster. I had to kick up a serious fuss to get my childcare costs back. I found that emailing my MP was the easiest and successful way of dealing with this. Suddenly I got costs going back 6 months.

I've had no problem ever since. They come through automatically now without any hassle.

Hi,

Thank you so much for that advice, I got in touch with my MP as per your link and within a few hours DWP got in touch!
I am still awaiting an actual answer which they have said will be by 6pm tomorrow 02/11.

But if anyone has the same problems, if you do get in touch with your local MP it seems to speed it along? I did tell them on my Journal that my MP had been in contact with me and wanted further info and possibly after 3 months they finally took notice? Not sure if this is just a coincidence or not?

Hope I will have good news by tomorrow for anyone in the same situation

Good luck!
There's the pressure to meet working criteria but they don't make it easy if they withhold childcare costs!

I've had problems with this every month since claiming uc. I submit everything by the right time and it never gets paid. I have to leave numerous journal messages, call them and even when they eventually pay it is always miscalculated I'm not paid the right amount.

GeorgesMummy1 · 05/11/2021 13:11

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for all your good advice, I did get in touch with my local MP and that seems to 'get the ball rolling'!

I have now had a letter from Universal Credit that I will be back paid for the last three months on Monday next week!

To anyone in the same situation and worrying just keep going, I know it is scary to be a 'pain in their a*se' but keep going as this is what you are owed! It may take time but eventually they listen

Please let me know if you require any further info.

Regards xxxx
