speeding ticket - anyone help on what usual penalty is/how to deal with this?

Caught doing 35 in 30mph area -no previous penalties or other offences .. what is likely penalty? Notice talks about up to 6 points, up to £1000 fine or compulsory attendance on some kind of speed awareness course. But what do you get - does it just depend on whatever is decided at penalty determination.

Not arguing about fact I've got ticket - just want to know roughly what to expect as all a bit vague when you read it through (more interesting to see what people have clearly tried to use to argue against it).

Presumably you fill in the little record, send it off asap and see what happens (I'm assuming if you own up you don't have to do anything but wait and see).

sorry v.ignorant on this type of thing so all help appreciated.

they might offer you a speed awareness course and a fine instead of points.

i'm waiting my fate too probably points in my case.

thanks southeastatra (and good luck with your own notice) - must admit was no option on what to do so the offer (rather than asking for) a course does seem possible.
