LGPS pension - are contributions worked out annually or monthly?

The current contribution rates are approx:

£22k-37k: 6.5%
£37k-47k: 6.8%

My salary since April has been in the lower band. I’ve now received a small payrise that brings me to £38k, which is in the higher band.

However, if you calculate my salary across the 2021-22 tax year, it is under £37k overall.

So, does anyone know if the LGPS pension contribution rates are calculated annually or monthly please?

Sorry, You will need to ask your employer as it appears it depends on what they decide.

Yes, different employers manage it in different ways. Some will just assess contribution rates each April and not amend until the next April. Others will check each month (so people on variable pay could pay very different contribution rates each month). Others will do an annual review but will also reassess if someone is promoted/ pay drops.
