Getting a mortgage and credit card debt

Hi all,

Just after some advice please from anyone who may know more about this than me!

Partner and I are thinking of buying a house next year. He is a high earner, I am a nurse but only work part time.

I have a credit card that I am paying off, I always pay way over minimum payment and it will be paid off completely I'm 3 months.
So by the time we apply for a mortgage I won't have any debt.
Will it go against me that I've had a credit card previously, even if I have paid it off?

Also, I have a Next credit account. If I still owed money on this when applying for a mortgage, would it go against me?

Thanks all.

Credit commitments as such should not affect your ability to get a mortgage but potentially how much you will be able to borrow. Affordability is the main criteria.
