Could I get fined for not changing my name on my driving license?

I still hold my driving license in my married name. I got divorced 6yrs ago and reverted back to my maiden name.
I remember looking into changing it about 3 yrs ago and thinking what a palava (that and my passport, which has since expired).
However tonight, a friend has advised me that as I have my insurance and Log book in my current maiden name - should I get stopped by the Police then I could face a huge fine!! Is this correct?

I think it is - although not sure how huge the fine is ...have you tried the dvla website? and I think you can change it for free if its just a namechange..but make sure you package docs up as they lost my licence when I sent it so ended up paying for a new one anyway

Hi, yes, you can be prosecuted for not having the correct details on your driving licence, you really should change your details.

It's very easy. You just fill in the part at the bottom of your driving licence and send it, along with your photocard if you have one to DLVA. It gets sorted and returned to you very quickly.

Actually, a name change is a bit more complicated. It's still definitely worth doing though - the fine is lots of money!

I have requested pack D1 off the Govt website now - but would I still be fined even if I have a credit card/savings a/c in my married name and my DD has that surname? Also I just reverted back to my maiden name, didnt do anything "legal" to do so.
