Mature full time student and UC

Does anyone know if you can claim UC as a mature, full time student? I have worked out I will be able to get approx 8.5 k a year though student loans and bursary's (health degree in Wales) but I'm unsure if I will be able to claim for any UC. We have a mortgage so I understand we won't get the housing part. DH earns approx 20k a year, 2 DC.

It's unlikely with your Dh's earnings and your student loan that you would qualify for UC but worth getting a calculation. Maintenance loans reduce your Uc pound for pound - they take the annual loan and divide it between the number of months it is designed to cover in the Uni academic year, then they disregard £110 a month and the rest gets taken off your Uc entitlement. I'm not sure how bursaries are counted. perhaps speka to your Uni student support team.
