The Crypto Rollercoaster

Hi all,

I have decided to take the plunge and start investing in Crypto.

Pretty hairy experience and thought I would make a thread to see if we can get other MN crypto investors all together for moral support while we ride the rollercoaster.

Any one out there?

@fromdownwest I have a similar goal for my exit from Bitcoin. Been reading and researching since I started investing in April. Bought lots of Eth too - when it was very high. Have seen my investments drop drastically, then rise again. Solana has been a brilliant investment too. Only back the leaders in the market.

Now the all time lows seem to be higher. We are in the early adoption phase of crypto and blockchain technology. Do your research. Someone here made some suggestions a while back on who to follow online for advice. InvestAnswers and Coinbureau are really really good.

What a great read, it all looks very volatile at the minute, but as I'm new to crypto and investing small amounts I have enough years to ride it out and see where this takes me.. quite addictive though

AnastasiaMomu · 28/12/2021 12:00

Well, it's never too late! Crypto will give a lot of profit only if you are aware of the risks and understand everything you do. If it's something new to you, and you don't know how these currencies work and how the market works, you have to study all these things. After you understand all these details, you start investing, trading, or whatever you want. If you have ever invested in stocks or traded stocks, you have to understand, the crypto market is way more volatile, so the risks are a bit bigger. I used to work as an online stock broker fbs.com/ , and I thought I would do everything just fine with crypto, probably the worst mistake I ever made.

I would like to understand more about this to tie up some funds. Please can anyone tell me good podcasts or how to guides please? I'm a matched bettor, but have never invested in crypto before.

I am new to this and would also welcome any recommendations of YouTube vids, podcasts etc. I've started with £50 on coinbase.

Two must start YouTubers are coinBureau and ‘every bit helps’

The latter is excellent at explaining the basics of wallets and all other aspects.

Coin bureau dives deeper, but is a great in biased source of information.

Hello. Just wondering how everyone is doing.

ThreeRingCircus · 26/01/2022 16:22

I only have a very small amount of Bitcoin (£150) my plan is to buy £50 or so every couple of months up until I hold an amount that I'd be OK with losing (so probably £1k). I view it as a long term investment so try to ignore a lot of the daily ups and downs but also have the view that it could all come to nothing. Nothing ventured though.....

@MamaSharkington

Hello. Just wondering how everyone is doing.
Funny you should ask! lol

Been a fun few weeks, however, I have significantly average down my BTC, SOL, ETC and ENJ holdings during the dip, or pre dip, or pre pre dip? Who knows!

Holding until retirment anyhow, so a long way away before I start to worry!

Porfre · 28/01/2022 23:16

Not doing too bad.

I had sold all my holdings in October. And am starting again so this 'dip' is a great opportunity for me. Slowly averaging down my holdings.

I'm expecting things to be at a good price for the next couple of year until the next halving. Hopefully around 2025 when the real gains will be made.

Hoping to have invested a good amount by then.

Thoughts on Kraken's safety? Which wallets to consider storage in and why?

WesleeReed · 09/12/2022 12:20

I think trying to invest in crypto in 2022 is almost pointless. The situation in the world is too unstable to try to predict the course and the subsequent rise or fall in the course. Therefore, if you are going to invest in buying crypto to earn on the difference in rates, be prepared for losses. The only viable option I see is to invest in some sort of web3 development platform (like evacodes.com for example). There are still high chances of entering into a profitable business. All other schemes are already outdated

Get a hardware wallet like Ledger or Trezor.
