Know anything about parking tickets on foreign cars?

Our car is on foreign plates, got a parking ticket as I was stood by the car putting the kids in. Warden said there is a 5 minute extra time allowance, which I think we were still in, according to clock on pay machine, my watch and car clock, but funnily enough not warden´s machine.....

If I don´t pay is it likely they will just write it off rather than chase 40 quid half way across Europe? We didn´t pay the congestion charge when we went into London, and never heard anything. Anyone had any experience of this?

TIA

Think that is if you have a british licence. If you get caught drink driving in france, for example, they cannot take away your UK licence, only a french or an EU one.
