Newbuild drama: Builders refuse to change incentive terms

I am in the process of purchasing a new build and was due to receive a stamp duty financial incentive from the builder in exchange for doing my carpets myself. Now that the holiday has been extended, the homebuilder has refused to change the terms and are saying that it's null and void now that there is an extension even though this wasn't pre-stated in the terms. Now, they want to send out riders to change their terms. Should I fight it or just leave it and continue with the old plan of doing my carpets?

How much do you want the house? Pull out if the terms don’t suit.

Tell them you changed your mind and they can do the carpets, and you'll pay whatever stamp duty is owed...

Thanks! I do want the house but I also don't want to seem desperate - I don't think it's right that they are being so rigid - They can afford it and it's not like i'm asking them to give me the cash.

Thanks! Tried this - Hence why they are now trying to change the terms of their contract to include that the offer to pay part of my stamp duty is null and void seeing as there's no stamp duty to pay as I'll be completing soon. They are being quite tight-fisted IMO
