Claiming back childcare vouchers

Has anyone any experience of claiming back childcare vouchers (obviously after paying the tax)?

DH has over £1000 in childcare vouchers but was made redundant by his employer over a year ago - so can't claim them back through them. Our youngest child will be 12 this year and no one accepts them for his age any more.

Trying to work out how to get the money back...

Martin Lewis has a good discussion on his website:

May have to send your kids in a fantastic PGL break instead of claiming them back though.

It's very scheme-dependent - some will let you claim at all back and stay in the scheme as long as you keep paying the minimum in. Some are PITA, and won't let you claim back unless you're leaving the scheme. They can't just keep your £ though 🤔.

We have loads of vouchers built up during lockdown, it took us a while to remember to reduce them. We will be using them of them at Barracudas holiday club for the next few years.

Not sure if you can get the money back pretty sure mine says no refunds. It's a pain that they can only be used in Ofsted registered settings but they have to be regulated somehow.
