Mortgage broker for the self-employed during Covid

Can anyone please recommend a good broker? Preferably one you have used during Covid times who understands lenders' recent behaviour regarding SEISS.

We are in the process of potentially being turned down by Halifax. We have used London & Country so far but are thinking we might need a broker that specialises in mortgages for the self employed as our situation is complex.

When you say complex I think what you mean is you don’t meet most lenders’ qualifying criteria. Unfortunately, a ‘specialist’ is not going to change that. If there is a lender with more relaxed criteria, any mortgage broker should be able to arrange it.

If anyone is searching the forum for recommendations, it turned out that London & Country did manage to get us our mortgage offer thankfully.

However I spoke to two other brokers while we were worried and both were very knowledgable about self-employed stuff, as there were several ways we could have presented ourselves to the lender and it wasn't straightforward. I can't completely recommend them as we didn't follow the process through with them but they are worth a look for anyone in a similar situation: Haysto.com and trevorlevy.co.uk
