Just checked mortgage paperwork and my first mortgage payment is due tomorrow. I tried to get into my online banking via my laptop but I must have put the wrong password or something and can't get in. However I got in via on my phone and there's no direct debit set up as an upcoming payment! I don't like the phone banking, had only set it up as it was the only way I could change my address without going into a branch and don't use it much. Had a look around in different areas on the app and I can't see the mortgage payment info at all! I'm going to call my bank first thing tomorrow but wanted some reassurance.
I didn't receive anything in the post from my bank about setting up a direct debit but got a letter from my mortgage provider quoting my bank details. It said if there's a mistake let them know otherwise nothing needs done. It was fine so I didn't do anything. I'm so glad I checked even though it's a bit last minute. You'd think all this shit would be sorted, perhaps it's a pandemic issue?
Shitting myself and feeling a bit sick. If it's not set up can I phone and do the payment that way? It's with HSBC. Thanks.
