I paid for a course and professional exam in Sept 2020. I have paid the full invoice. I have now passed the course and am ready to sit the prof exam.
However, the training provider is now trying to charge me extra as they say the cost of the prof exam has increased. I have checked with the prof body themselves, and they confirm that they have not raised their exam fees.
The training provider claims that they can request extra for the exam as part of their Ts & Cs. I have a copy of this and there is no mention of alterations in exam fees being passed on to the client, so I am refusing to pay the extra and have asked for a refund. The prof body say they haven't increased the fees so there is no reason why the provider is asking for more money.
The provider is refusing, as they say that exam fees are non-refundable - which is does actually say on my invoice. However, I have now said that I deem them to be in breach of their contact to me, so have demanded an immediate refund.
Am I right to pursue this and do I have any hope of getting my money back? [I can do the prof exam independently later on if I want to.]
