Hi, my dh has been signed off work for a few weeks. We get univeral credit. Will uc increase? His salary will decrease significantly as he will only get ssp.

Yes

SSP is treated the same as wages, so if you currently get a work allowance ( because you have children on the claim ) this will still apply. You will get extra UC because there will be less deductions for earnings but overall you will likely be quite a bit worse off.

Or to put it depressingly and in an obvious way that the OP is already aware of. What pp said 👆😂

Rude. I was explaining about the work allowance.

Op if you'd like me to be more helpful then please pm me your details of earnings and current Uc amount and I'll work out what you are likely to get once your dh drops to SSP.

Please contact the citizens advice, they can do a benefits check and look at ways of maximising income,

Good luck.
