Personal experiences of bankruptcy

Can anyone give me personal experience of personal bankruptcy? I know it will effect me for 6 years to my knowledge but what are chances for applying for a mortgage after the 6 years and any other experiences of how it will effect my life etc

This is getting to become a last resort and not at all taken lightly but I need to fully understand the process from as many perspectives as possible.

Thank you for any advice

Can you not go into a IVA? I went into one and it’s the best thing I ever did! All the letters stop and I can finally sleep at night

My understanding is I can't as there is outstanding finance? Item has been sold on (not by me!) and so cannot be given back so left with finance 😔

Have a look at the Bankruptcy talk forum at Money Saving Expert.

I second the bankruptcy forum on MSE

Debt Camel is another useful site.
