FT student and self-employment

DD is a FT student and sells some items made as part of her education/training. She's maybe grossed £500 in the last year. However this month she's grossed £1000 and this will tail off in the next week or two as it's Christmas-related.

All proceeds are reinvested in raw materials. She makes minimal profits once all expenses are taken into account.

Does she need to register as self-employed?
