Child tax credit

This is my first time on mumsnet. I am so worried. I received a letter saying that Tax credits are investigating me. They want so much information. I’m terrified that I’ve been singled out.
Has anyone else ever had a letter like this ? Please help ; if you can.

99% of the time they are random compliance checks.

CherryCherries · 06/11/2020 17:22

What sort of info do they want? Could someone have reported you for anything?

Sunnydaysstillhere · 06/11/2020 17:24

Afaik lots of checks are being made at this time.
Answer the questions one at a time and be honest.
Are you doing something you haven't declared op?

Does anyone else have post coming to your address? Do you have a partner staying over ? These are the most common reasons for compliance checks. They may suspect you are not single.

Go on line and make sure your details are up to date for a start.

Nothing to worry about. Unless you have cheating the system.

RedHelenB · 07/11/2020 10:27

What info are they wanting?

BarbaraofSeville · 07/11/2020 12:10

There's been a few posts about these recently. It must be 'the season'.

As a PP says, you have nothing to worry about unless you have been claiming as a single parent when you have a partner living with you.

CherryCherries · 08/11/2020 18:38

Agreed. As long as you've declared all assets/income etc you'll be fine.
