Universal credit and council tax

I was made redundant end of August.

Signed up for universal credit however when I was made redundant they lovingly processed my pay using the wrong dates.

When UC came up at end of the month they said I was not entitled due to the pay date. This was then corrected through a mandatory consideration.

Now the county council are refusing to give me discount on my council tax. I’ve provided evidence I recieved uc and there still saying not there problem and they want paying.
What do I do?

Before you ask about redundancy my employer was super nice and didn’t pay me and they made unlawful deductions from wages. In total I’m owed £12k. My former employer is now being taken to tribunal.

I suspect there claiming furlough in my name. Despite leaving in August they processed payslips with end of September on it when I’ve obviously left.

I have reported employer to HMRC fraud helpline who have remained silent and not helped me sort out the mess. Nobody at HMRC in any department can help.

It’s doing my head in.

I would seek advice from citizen advice

I ask council tax to set you a “ special arrangement” so you pay £10 a month until this is sort - this bids you time and stop you getting charges like court summons etc for not paying full amount

Ask if you can write a statement and sign to state you were not working and not receiving any income

Have you sent your UC statement showing you were entitled to a payment to the Council Tax department?
