@SSDGM lol at a Salon and Messiah combo....from what I saw the other day on another Valentus bots post (salon has blocked me) then Salon and family have now relocated to Spain ( I think Ibiza).
Also saw that the Ninja has cleared off from Cologne and is now going to live it up in Dubai for the next 5 or so years 🙄

Sforsh49 · 06/10/2020 09:23

Wonder if Nurse has a licence to run her lottery.........

fromdownwest · 06/10/2020 10:43

The amount of these bots that avoid tax and an impact on their benfits by runniing non licenced lotteries is too much!

I am sure the professional standards comittee at her actual job that floats this sham would not look too kindly on illegel online gambling promotions.

9dartfinish2nd · 06/10/2020 12:38

Apparently 8 MLM companies have left the DSA in a period of 15 days.

Not sure if this is UK or US though,

SSDGM · 06/10/2020 15:57

Did we know which companies?

I’ve just checked in on Salon. She has entered Wig levels of filtering her pics. For someone supposedly so “confident” and “living her best life” she can’t seem to post a single pic where she doesn’t look like an alien from the same planet Sleaze’s partner in crime is from.

Sforsh49 · 06/10/2020 16:09

Broke is quarantined but he's managed to get his broken phone to the shop to be fixed and can get it back on Saturday. Now I'd like to think he anti-bac'd it and left it outside for a friend to take who is going to pick it up and deliver it back in a similar way but I think I know the answer to that!!

CatherineCookson · 06/10/2020 16:27

@fitgirl26

Watching Wig and Sleaze's ridiculous live from Glasgow Uni yesterday where their fellow idiot marches around bellowing "LISTEN" in the faces of various students before calling them stupid and uneducated 🙄 Sleaze trots behind muttering "just seeking the truth guys, here to help" I don't think they got the rapturous reception they expected despite being "full of love".

Please can they go the way of Trump soon?

Sleaze is the new PA of the other Geza - he's not MLM but an 'interesting' character in the troof world.

They don't look like they're going to be getting a million folks down to London given the massive crowds they're currently attracting.

Botbrigade · 06/10/2020 16:27

Can someone please report Broke????

funkylittleboatrace · 06/10/2020 16:38

@Botbrigade oh no what's he done now?

Botbrigade · 06/10/2020 16:50

@funkylittleboatrace breaking quarantine by the sounds of it. Think we all knew that was coming.

Popihola · 06/10/2020 17:41

I have it on VERY good authority that Salon has fled the country because she's running away from a lot! I can go into more detail but I don't feel this is the correct forum. Thats why she kept it under wraps for so long, she couldn't risk people finding out until she was there. She has a lot of demons.

SSDGM · 06/10/2020 18:00

I must admit I thought there was a reason she has gone. I’ve been told stuff in the past and let’s face it, when you’re the UK leader of a company selling a product that is essentially Class C drugs you probably want to get away from Trading Standards pretty swiftly.

TwinsetAndPearlss · 06/10/2020 19:20

I can't see Broke- has he removed his profile.

What has he done?

TwinsetAndPearlss · 06/10/2020 19:23

Don't worry - found Broke.

YouokHun · 06/10/2020 19:34

I’ve got some serious catching up to do on these threads as work has got in the way. Here I am, missing weeks of botwatching by you all and yet it seems I’ve never been away; Sleaze still has a tinfoil hat, Messiah is still a narcissist, Salon is Salon etc etc and the MLM industry is still exploiting Covid for all it’s worth.

Have any of you seen this thread? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4042038-What-s-the-R-number-of-MLM-schemes

I’ve been banging on over on that thread. It’s very clear from that thread and generally that many more people are getting mightily sick of constant hassle from the DSA favourites BS and Avon and Tropic. For every sign up during Covid there has to be many more become mores time, more vocal and crystallised about MLM. The sign ups from early lockdown are struggling but are now banking on Christmas. I need to go back to the middle of the last thread and catch up. I haven’t even had my daily dose of weird willy lately Envy
(Not envy^).

Just checking in. Has anyone watched the documentary on Netflix about Shannan Watts? It's really heartbreaking, but I also think it's an interesting portrayal of what it's like to be in an MLM. She was deep into an MLM called Thrive before she died and posted lots and lots of Facebook live videos talking about her life. In real life she was miserable and her husband was having an affair (I suspect he must have been abusive too - lovely men with no history of violence don't just wake up one day and murder their wife and children), but she was required to be endlessly positive for the purposes of recruiting for the mlm. You'd have thought from her Facebook profile that she had the perfect life. She also filmed everything for social media. It was really fascinating to see the difference between real life and the mlm facade.

YouokHun · 06/10/2020 21:19

Yes @grumpytoddler1 I watched it at the weekend and thought the same. I was struck by how much footage of her was available and thought that she must have had a lot of her life up on social media as part of her Thrive life. I also thought to myself how sad it was to see her use the typical MLM tragedy to triumph rhetoric when at the same time her marriage was falling apart. What pressure she must have been under to maintain the fiction. A very sad story indeed.

I watched a youtube video last year which featured the bodycam footage of the police officer who was initially called to the home after a friend of Shannanne called them, concerned that she wasn't home the morning after attending a weekend "conference". Shannanne was pregnant and had arranged to visit the doctor that morning with her friend.

There was no mention of Thrive or MLM on the footage but the words used to describe Shannanne's job "business owner" for example set all my spidey senses going.

I had no idea of the background to the story while I watched it unfold but it was extremely fascinating to watch her husband's behaviour after he arrived home to let the officer into the house to look for Shannanne. I realised that there was something badly wrong with his responses during the house search but didn't know why.

I did not realise that he had, earlier that morning, murdered his wife and children and taken bodies out of the home and buried them, then gone to work as normal.

Chris and Shannanne seemed on the surface to be a extremely happy, fulfilled and successful couple. They had a beautiful home and luxury cars and all the trappings of success plus two adorable little girls. I have since watched the documentary where I learned about the MLM she was involved with and watched all the public posts projecting a happy, financially secure family. It was anything but, of course Sad as they had growing serious financial problems.

We know too well how spouses of MLM bots suffer in silence when their partners get absorbed into the MLM bubble of toxic positivity at all costs. This is a tragic example of the ultimate cost, I believe. I wonder if the combination of the financial implications of another pregnancy plus Shannanne attending yet another "business conference" led to a confrontation when she returned. Its so heartbreaking to think of their young daughters...

BangingOn · 07/10/2020 07:36

I haven’t watched the documentary, but I have listened to the True Crime Obsessed episode that covers it- they are brutally critical of MLMs and very amusing about it (the MLM aspect, not the murders, obviously).

AlexCabot · 07/10/2020 09:34

I think it's important to remember that Chris Watts killed his wife and children because he wanted to.

Absolutely nothing to do with Shannans involvement with MLM, he wanted out of his marriage and the responsibility of fatherhood.

Yes, they were in the shit financially and part of that was due to Shannan ploughing money into her 'business' but I've seen a lot of stuff online about this case and some people seem to be very close to victim blaming. The punishment for being financially irresponsible is not death.

I understand the interest in the difference between Shannan's online life versus her real one but that's not exclusive to MLM bots, lots of people showcase a very different life on social media.

9dartfinish2nd · 07/10/2020 09:57

I also watched the Netflix documentary, whether Shannan's involvement in Thrive had any part to play in the marital strain between them remains unclear but it's patently obvious the happy family life she portrayed online did not resemble her real life but this is what MLM's encourage their participants to do in order to attract new recruits.
In my opinion the key moment came when Chris Watts had 5 weeks away from home with the other woman and he decided he preferred that life to the one he had created with Shannan and their children.
He deserves to rot in hell for what he did, the friend of Shannan's who raised the alarm so soon meant that he did not have the opportunity to cover his tracks before the Police attended the family home.

YouokHun · 07/10/2020 10:24

Yes I agree @AlexCabot and @9dartfinish2nd the villain is the husband and his decision to start another life by callously disposing of the one he had. It’s also true that sharing/over sharing on social media isn’t confined to MLM, and it’s something I find difficult to stomach whether it’s MLM or not. However, I thought her involvement in MLM gave the film makers a way of representing the juxtaposition of her MLM story and her real story. So without pinning what happened on the MLM it managed to illustrate all that is wrong with the way MLM requires people to sell themselves.

But you’re right, no one should let their anti MLM views distract them from seeing her as the victim (and I have noticed the victim blaming tone on a few anti MLM threads myself).

grumpytoddler1 · 07/10/2020 13:54

Oh were they in a mess financially? I don't think the documentary went into that, it was mostly focused on footage from her Facebook page and of the police interviews.

If thats the case I think it demonstrates even further how keen she was to portray a rags to riches fairytale online that wasn't real.

I haven't seen any of the comments on other forums but I think that's horrific! This was clearly an unstable, violent and abusive man, whose behaviour escalated. Perhaps she was in debt and obsessed with her mlm, perhaps she wasn't - it wouldn't have mattered to him either way.

I agree about the fact that it's not confined to mlm bots, influencers are often equally guilty of portraying a perfect life online. And they're trying to make money out of it too - 'buy these amazing products that I'm secretly advertising, and you too will have an amazing life and perfect children'.

SnoogyWoo · 07/10/2020 18:33

Just realised Sleaze with stubble looks just like Homer Simpson!

Ajgee · 07/10/2020 18:44

Interesting that you mention that documentary, it had the sniff of MLM right through it. Googling 'Thrive' didn't uncover the MLM, I see now it's Thrive by Le-vel. It goes without saying how tragic it was.

Also non-MLM but related to these threads (more so BBL on Tattle), I see there's been BBC & Guardian articles about trolling of a journalist/influencer SH. It's new to me, but after a quick scan of the threads they appear to contain reasonable scrutiny of an 'influencer'. I do worry that the media/law as it is might struggle to differentiate between scrutiny and trolling. This could also apply to MLMs.
