Gift aid and just giving query

Sorry if I'm being a bit dim, but I really don't understand this!
If the total on a just giving page says for example 2000 with an extra 1000 in gift aid, does the charity actually get 3000?

Do they not claim back the tax on the donation that the person donating would pay so yes the charity gets the extra funds

Yes, as the individual giving you need to be careful that you pay that much in tax otherwise HMRC will send you a bill!
