Sending money via PayPal

I have a friend in Australia who wants to send me money for something.

We were going to use PayPal but I can't get my head round the fees. Has anyone done this and know how much we can expect to pay?

You can send money to friends or family and not have to pay fees.

Click onto money, then send money, she can enter the email linked to your PayPal. It will get to a point where it asks if it’s to a business or friends and family tell her to choose friends and family and there’s no fees! X

Is that for payments abroad as well as the UK?

I thought PayPal stopped transfers abroad (to do with fraud).

I remember asking a friend. Western union seems to be popular to send money abroad.

I don’t see why you couldn’t send money to someone abroad, their location doesn’t matter, all you need is their PayPal email

Paypal transfers abroad whether to family, friends or businesses have a fee. Try transfer wise. Doesn't cost as much, is directly to bank account and takes about 3 hours max even though they do say it can take up to 48 hours.
