anyone in the know about train season ticket refunds?

Would be grateful for any help!

An annual season ticket was purchased on 01/08/2019. Didn’t realise we could cancel these if not used. It’s not been used since March and has now expired. Backdating the claim from today for 56 days (as per Covid rules) would take us to 8 July. Does this mean the holder will get a refund for the portion of the ticket from 8 July to 31 July? Or will they be entitled to a refund back to March?

National Rail calculator indicates back to March. Train provider's own website seems to indicate there will be no claim value.

You need to go to the ticket office to check. But its unlikely now as its something to do with the fact you pay for the cost of the ticket in the first ten months of the year.

I did once cancel a season ticket that I bought in January and cancelled in September or October and got about 1 months worth back.

It was also a nightmare as I had part way through the year changed the train station. Ended up with a personal contact in their customer services head office sorting it out. Good luck don't give up if you think you are entitled. There is something called terms of carriage I think that explains refund entitlements, not sure what covid extra allowances are.

I had assumed when I applied for mine that I'd only get so much of it back, as I'd just bought another month's but hadn't used the last couple of days of my previous one - but they actually went right back through the records to when I'd last travelled and refunded me from that date.

Took bloody ages to get though.
