Matched betting - power up question

Hi, just starting out with MB. I understand the free sign up bets etc, but I already had a couple of betting accounts so am also keeping an eye out for offers on those.

Today Paddy power had a powerup offer so I did the qualifying bet - all fine, c20p loss. Then my understanding was that I could use the power up to get better odds which would result in a profit when betting and laying. I've found 100% matches on the profit accumulator calculator, but when I go to put the bet on paddy power, the odds even with the power up are only the same as on the calculator - so I wouldn't make any profit.

Am I doing something wrong here? How do I get guaranteed profit from the power up?

It’s not always guaranteed to get a profit with a power up (I found Paddy odds pretty rubbish). Think most people use their power up to reduce qualifying losses on trigger bets (ie smaller loss when placing bets to qualify for their bet club free bet etc).

Sadly, they gubbed me so they’re off my Christmas card list!
